Project Summary

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), under the U.S. Department of State-funded Controlling HIV Epidemic Program (CHEP), supports the Government of Zambia in achieving and sustaining HIV epidemic control in line with national and global targets, including the 95-95-95 goals.

The CHEP project focuses on strengthening HIV prevention, care, and treatment services through a person-centered approach, while enhancing maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH) and Global Health Security (GHS) outcomes. The project operates in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) at national, provincial, district, and facility levels to ensure sustainability, country ownership, and transition readiness.


Job Summary

Reports to Senior Data Coordinator. The incumbent will report to the will be responsible for overall district data collection and reporting for all supported facilities.

Main duties
  • Works closely with the facility staff to collect weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required.
  • Actively participates in ad hoc data collection.
  • Ensures each facility has a data review meeting at least once a quarter. 
  • Ensures safekeeping, proper organization, filing and tracking of data.
  • Develops and performs weekly quality control measures; identifies problems and provides feedback to the data control staff.
  • Responds to/resolves all questions/problems from data entry staff and communicates any pertinent issues to superiors.
  • Conducts data quality activities and prepares reports on data quality.  
  • Maintains an accurate and current inventory of all data equipment and supplies.
  • Mentors Data Associates on data collection and entry procedures and common data errors/problems within the clinic and at other sites as requested.
  • Conducts staff evaluations periodically as requested and manages leave for staff.
  • Responds to verifications of collected data and provides feedback accordingly.
  • Monitors backlog within the facilities and conducts necessary action to clear such backlog if needed.
  • Disseminates facility performance information to all facility staff.
  • Initiates and actively participates in facility data review meetings.
  • Assists in consolidating budgets and work plans.
  • Mentors health care workers in the HMIS tools.
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Higher Diploma in Information Management/Computer Sciences or related field; a Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in data management 
  • Experience working in a health setting involving ART or HIV care a plus
