Reports to Provincial Medical Officer. The incumbent will be the liaison between the PHO, DHO, other implementing partners (IPs) and TBLON in the implementation of TB and TB/HIV activities in the supported provinces.

Main Duties:

  • Collaborates with the Provincial TB Focal Point Person under the Ministry of Health (MoH) to jointly plan, implement, and monitor TB program activities in line with national and project priorities.
  • Coordinates with existing MoH structures to mentor facility-level clinical staff, focusing on improving clinical competencies, service quality, and fostering skills transfer and capacity building within the MoH workforce.
  • Collaborates with MoH structures to strengthen implementation of TB case finding, prevention, care, and treatment interventions across all levels of service delivery.
  • Coordinates closely with the Public-Private Mix Coordinator, Laboratory Coordinator, Data Coordinator, and Correctional Facilities Coordinator to ensure harmonized implementation of TB activities across all service delivery areas.
  • Works in partnership with the project provincial Medical Officer (PMO) and MoH provincial and district leadership to integrate project priorities into provincial and district workplans, and to monitor implementation progress against agreed workplans and performance targets.
  • Fosters a collaborative approach in the implementation of project activities to avoid duplication, enhance stakeholder engagement, and maximize the impact of TB interventions at the facility and community level.
  • Continuously monitors the provincial TB program environment and consult the project PMO and MoH TB focal point person to recommend and implement necessary adaptations to the workplan.
  • Leads and coordinates the implementation of provincial level drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) activities in collaboration with MoH counterparts and facility teams.
  • Works closely with the Provincial Data Coordinator to ensure use of TB performance data for decision-making, learning, and quality improvement.
  • Maintains an up-to-date knowledge base on TB, TB/HIV co-infection, and related public health priorities to support evidence-based mentoring and guidance.
  • Conducts and supports training sessions and continuous medical education (CME) activities to build clinical competencies in TB and TB/HIV management.
  • Supports institutionalization of TB best practices at facility level including intensified case finding, treatment success monitoring, TB mortality audits, and routine data review meetings.
  • Provides technical input during district and provincial clinical review meetings and actively contribute to discussions aimed at improving TB program outcomes.
  • Works with facility teams and ART clinic staff to strengthen bi-directional referrals and ensure integrated TB/HIV service delivery.
  • Contributes to routine project reporting and documentation of best practices, lessons learnt, and success stories in collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation and Communications teams.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by the Provincial Medical Officer or project leadership to support the implementation of TB control efforts in the province.

 Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • At least a Diploma in Clinical medicine/Nursing
  • Training in TB and HIV management.
  • Registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) or General Nursing Council.
  • Must hold a valid HPCZ/GNC license
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in TB or TB/HIV program management
  • Experience in conducting/involvement in research is an added advantage
  • A Master’s degree will be an added advantage
