Reports to Study Coordinator. The incumbent will provide essential transportation services and logistical support to ensure the smooth operation of study activities. He/she will uphold the highest standards of vehicle maintenance, safety, and professionalism.

Main Duties:

  • Provides timely and safe transportation services to the study team as required, ensuring punctuality and adherence to schedules.
  • Responsible for handling the transportation of study personnel and materials to designated locations, prioritizing safety and efficiency.
  • Maintains assigned vehicle in optimal condition by conducting regular inspections and arranging for cleaning, servicing, and repairs as necessary.
  • Ensures all essential vehicle components, including oil, water, brakes, spare tire, wheel spanner, jack, and lighting system, are in excellent working order.
  • Plans and executes refuelling activities to prevent interruptions in service delivery.
  • Strategically maps out driving routes in advance to identify the most efficient and safe paths to destinations, minimizing travel time and maximizing productivity.
  • Coordinates with the Fleet Coordinator to schedule timely road license and fitness renewals for all vehicles, ensuring compliance with Road, Transport, and Safety Agency (RTSA).
  • Facilitates the delivery of study supplies to clinics and field staff, maintaining accurate records of distribution activities.
  • Immediately reports any observed vehicle malfunctions or accidents to the supervisor.
  • Remains adaptable to evolving study needs, willingly undertaking additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by study management to support the overall goals of the organization.
  • Demonstrates strong teamwork skills, collaborating effectively with colleagues to achieve shared objectives and deliver exceptional service.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Valid SADC Driving License, Class C, with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in driving and vehicle maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
  • Exemplary integrity, honesty, and reliability, with a commitment to always upholding professional standards.
