Project Summary:

Zambian Informed Motivated Aware and Responsible Adolescents and Adults (ZAIMARA) is a five (5) year project where CIDRZ will work towards meeting the 95-95-95 targets for adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) in 5 distinct communities in Lusaka Province. CIDRZ will collaborate with the University of Alabama (UAB) and the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) to conduct a hybrid trial that will evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of IMARA a CDC “best-evidence” mother and daughter model that directly addresses HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC), PrEP uptake and sexual behavior among AGYW.

Job Summary:

Reports to Study Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for identifying eligible study participants in the communities and testing them for HIV and STIs

Main Duties:   

  • Conducts HIV and STI testing (N. gonorrhoeae, C. trachomatis, and T. vaginalis) for participants enrolled in the study.
  • Provides PrEP and reffarls for participants that are eligible to receive PrEP in the study.
  • Completes the study-specific data collection forms for the respective study visits.
  • Performs self-quality checks (QC) in a timely manner
  • Maintains strict participant confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  • Follows the safety protocol for participants and on any issues of safety (example, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, physical abuse, and/or domestic violence).
  • Participates in study monitoring and documentation exercises.
  • Refers patients to other support as needed.
  • Maintains strong and consistent communication with all participants, research assistants and with the study coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma in Nursing while Degree in Nursing will be an added advantage
  • In possession of a valid practicing license
  • Prior experience working on a longitudual study
  • Strong knowledge of HIV and STIs.
  • Ability to read and understand English, Bemba, and Nyanja.
  • Experience working on an adolescent project.
  • Familiarity with the local community context where the study will occur.
