Project Summary:

CIDRZ is implementing a five-year (Oct 4, 2021 – Oct 3, 2026) USAID Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Population (CHEKUP) I project whose goal is to improve the health outcomes of Zambians by preventing new infections among priority and key populations most at risk of acquiring HIV. Nested within the USAID CHEKUP I project is the delivery of community HIV testing and prevention (CHIV) to priority populations (PP) such as men aged 25 to 34, people living with HIV (PLHIV), discordant couples, and mobile populations. The (CHIV) component of CHEKUP I is being implemented in Livingstone, Lusaka, Ndola, Luanshya, Kitwe, Chingola, Mufulira, Chililabombwe and Solwezi districts.

Job Summary:

Reports to the Implementation Officer and works closely with the District Data Associates and other USAID CHEKUP I staff in the districts. The incumbent will work closely with community members who are at high risk of HIV infection and offer high impact HIV testing and prevention services. S/he will work in the community in close collaboration with government health facility and DREAMS centre-based staff, government, and non-governmental structures (CBOs, FBOs, CHAs, NHC etc).

Main Duties:

  • Ensures that all eligible beneficiaries are provided with high impact HIV prevention services.
  • Carries out routine community mappings to identify hot spots for target community mobilization and health education activities.
  • Conducts health education and offers HIV testing services to all eligible individuals in the target communities.
  • Distributes HIV self-test kits to eligible and willing community members using both assisted and unassisted HIV testing.
  • Ensures all individuals with HIV-positive results are actively linked to care in the catchment/nearest facility.
  • Ensures all individuals with HIV-positive results are offered partner notification services/index testing services.
  • Ensures that all index contacts elicited are traced and offered HTS and appropriate HIV prevention services.
  • Conducts data verifications with District Data Associates to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
  • Maintains confidentiality during provision of HIV services.
  • Files all documents correctly, i.e. screening tools, elicitation forms, and other relevant documents.
