Project summary

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) and Development Aid from People to People in Zambia (DAPP Zambia) as sub-grantee will support the Zambia Defense Force Medical Services (DFMS) to reach sustainable control of the HIV epidemic through the lens of strategic global policies and targets.

The program goal is to support the Zambian Defense Force (DFZ) to reach sustainable control of the HIV epidemic in the military by building the technical capacity of the DFMS health systems to implement a person-centered HIV prevention, care and treatment program aligned with national guidelines and PEPFAR’s Vision 2025.

Location: Any of the following districts: Chipata, Katete, Lundazi, Kabwe, Kaoma, Mkushi, Kasam, Mansa, Mbala, Mpika, Kafue, Chilanga, Choma, chongwe, Livingstone, Lusaka, Kalumbila, Kitwe, Mufulira, Ndola or Solwezi

Job Summary:

Reports to VMMC Network Coordinator. The incumbent is responsible for all Male Circumcision (MC) clinical matters at the facility. S/he performs MC using the current approved methods - both dorsal-slit and Shang Ring methods, supervise MC Counselors and Hygiene Assistants operating at the facility. Is responsible for consumable and non-consumables supplies at the facility together with infection prevention at the site, ensuring all clients return for reviews and identify and manage Adverse Events. 

Main duties 
  • Ensures availability and use of appropriate SOPs and Guidelines in Program implementation
  • Ensures all Clients who test positive are linked to ART for care support and treatment
  • Ensures QA/QC is a priority in all service deliveries. 
  • Conducts procedures as needed and adhere to procedural and national guidelines.
  • Ensures all clients return for their review dates, 2 days 14 days and 6 weeks after procedure.
  • Maintains infection prevention in all operating rooms according to standard guidelines.
  • Identifies, manages and refers all AEs as per guidelines and standard operating procedures.
  • Maintains strict client confidentiality and privacy.
  • Is accountable and responsible for resources and supplies, such as data collection forms,
  • client’s files, equipment, registers Guidelines at facility.
Qualifications 
  • Certificate in MC provision
  • Diploma in Nursing /Clinical Officer with experience in providing VMMC procedure
  • Psychosocial Counseling skills
  • Two years’ experience in VMMC provision
  • Ability to coach, mentor and develop technical capacity in VMMC program.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in project implementation; excellent
  • interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Organizational and Planning skills
