Project summary


The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) and Development Aid from People to People in Zambia (DAPP Zambia) as sub-grantee will support the Zambia Defense Force Medical Services (DFMS) to reach sustainable control of the HIV epidemic through the lens of strategic global policies and targets.

 

The program goal is to support the Zambian Defense Force (DFZ) to reach sustainable control of the HIV epidemic in the military by building the technical capacity of the DFMS health systems to implement a person-centered HIV prevention, care and treatment program aligned with national guidelines and PEPFAR’s Vision 2025.

 

Job summary


Reports to HSS Nurse. To coordinate community mobilization through community outreach programs and supervise the Community Health Workers in order to improve awareness and uptake of HIV prevention and treatment activities.

The incumbent will work in harmony with DFZ and other stakeholders to ensure all community activities meet the set standard.

  

Main duties

 

  • Supervises and undertakes community activities for TB contact tracing, defaulter tracing and active case finding to halt and eliminate TB in the community.
  • Undertakes and supervises community activities to create awareness and increase demand for VMMC services and link clients to appropriate care in order to reduce the incidence of HIV
  • Undertakes and supervise community activities to create awareness and demand for cervical
  • cancer screening services in women to prevent cervical cancer in HIV positive women.
  • Undertakes effectively the provision of primary and secondary prevention programs including PrEP/PEP, condom, GBV/LIVES, etc. in order to control new infections and avoid recurrence

  • Supervises effectively human and other resources in order to attain the set targets
  • Manages effectively performance assessment and quality assurance/improvement for public
  • health in order to ensure adherence to set standards and improve service delivery
  • Undertakes timely, preparations of budgets for the community in order to facilitate the
  • acquisition of financial and material resources.
  • Conducts mentorship and onsite trainings for Community Health Volunteers in order to
  • improve awareness, uptake and treatment outcomes.
  • Monitors the performance of all Community HIV Program targets in order to facilitate
  • implementation of appropriate interventions
  • Undertakes and Supervises Community Health Workers to promote retention in care in order to
  • maintain continuum of HIV prevention and treatment services.
  • Undertakes and supervises the provision of HIV Testing Services to clients at Community
  • Level according to National HIV Consolidated Guidelines in order to contribute to HIV
  • epidemic control.
  • Coordinates Actions Groups and Community Based Organizations in order to create a strong
  • and harmonious linkage between the community and health facility structures in order to promote integrated implementation of health programs.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 school certificate or equivalent
  • Diploma in Psychosocial Counseling with minimum two (2) year experience (diploma
  • in environmental or public health will be added advantage).
  • Ability to write comprehensive and analytical reports
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills: Written Skills
  • Ability to speak and understand Local language, a must
