Reports to Chief Executive Officer. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) holds overall responsibility for the financial health and effective functioning of the Finance Department at CIDRZ. As a key member of the Executive Committee (EXCO) and Leadership Team (LT), the CFO plays a vital role in shaping the organization’s strategic direction, ensuring robust financial management of all grant income in Zambia. The CFO also leads collaboration with auditors and financial counterparts in partner organizations, upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability to support CIDRZ’s mission.

Key responsibilities 
  • Provides strategic leadership to the finance function, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Sets financial strategy, long-term sustainability, risk management, and funding models.
  • Provides operational leadership in finance and administration aligned to organisational strategy
  • Leads operational management of finance staff, resource allocation, and departmental performance
  • Leads institutional budgeting, budgetary control, and financial forecasting. Monitors performance using budget-to-actual reviews; supports budget implementation.
  • Ensures forecasts, business planning, treasury reporting, and risk assessments are delivered.
  • Oversees preparation of statutory annual financial statements, donor, and management reports..
  • Leads enterprise-wide risk management and compliance at a strategic level.
  • Develops and implements internal control systems and SOPs for operational integrity.Provides oversight of audit processes and ensures compliance risk mitigation.
  • Manages execution of audits, prepares audit documentation, and liaises with auditors.
  • Engages strategically with donors, government, financial institutions, and the board
  • Maintains relationships with internal clients, suppliers, contractors, and regulatory authorities. (Internal Stakeholder Management)
  • Grants Business Official, Chairperson of Management Procurement Committee, Oversees VenYou Zambia business operations.
  • Represent CIDRZ financial positions at board meetings and advise on strategic financial issues.
Qualifications
  • BACC, ZICA, ACCA. CIMA, CPA or equivalent. An MBA will be of added advantage
  • 8-10 years post qualification finance experience; 4 years of which obtained from the donor funded NGO sector
  • U.S. Government financial management experience will be an added advantage including U.S. Government/CDC/USAID rules and regulations training
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Analytical mind with strong writing skills
  • Outstanding leadership and inter-personal skills with substantial experience in organizational development and mentorship
  • Good communication and negotiation skills and ability to build consensus within and between departments/projects
  • Ability to manage and work with diverse teams with diverse cultural backgrounds
