Reporting to the Research Coordinator. The incumbent will support the economic evaluation component of the GLOBE Study by collecting and managing costing data and administering patient cost questionnaires, conducting informed consent, supporting time-use assessments, tracking activity-based staff time, and assisting with the collection of health system resource use and operational cost data.

Main Duties;

  • Administers the Patient Cost Questionnaire (PCQ) to approximately 350 selected participants (split between mTBscreen-positive and -negative individuals).
  • Conducts informed consent procedures related to cost data collection and maintain participant confidentiality.
  • Collects and records patient-level cost data, including direct (transport, food, medical fees) and indirect (income loss, time away from work) costs.
  • Supports the collection of health system costing data, including human resources, capital assets, and overheads across different phases (design, initiation, and implementation).
  • Administers and tracks time assessment and workload (TAM) surveys among facility staff, including community health workers and nurses.
  • Assists with maintaining detailed logbooks and time-stamped CRFs to capture activity-based staff time and patient flow at the facility.
  • Liaises with site coordinators and finance staff to obtain expenditure data, procurement records, and facility-level operational costs.
  • Enters and manages data using tools like REDCap and Excel and perform initial quality checks and summaries.
  • Participates in team meetings and provide weekly updates on costing activities and recruitment status.
  • Ensures that all costing activities comply with study SOPs, ethical approvals, and data protection protocols.
  • Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

 Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma or degree in health economics, public health, health management, statistics, social sciences, or related field.
  • Experience in quantitative research, costing studies, or economic evaluations is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of research ethics and informed consent processes.
  • Familiarity with data collection tools (REDCap,) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to engage respectfully with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and record-keeping.
  • Fluency in English and local languages commonly spoken in Lusaka
