Project Summary:

 

The USAID Zambia Integrated Health (USAID ZIH) project aims to improve health outcomes of Zambians through equitable access to high-quality, client-centered HIV, TB/HIV, MNCH, reproductive health services, products, and information. These services, integrated, when possible, will reduce mortality, morbidity, and HIV transmission for populations in focus districts in Northwestern, Copperbelt, and Central provinces in Zambia. The USAID Zambia Integrated Health will be led by Pact with CIDRZ as local implementing partner.

The USAID ZIH consortium will work in collaboration with the PHO/DHO Team and other stakeholders to:

  1. Increasing coverage of comprehensive and client-centered RH/MNCH and HIV prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment services in communities and health facilities to reach and maintain 95-95-95 in focus districts.
  2. Increasing utilization of community and facility-based quality, person-centered, integrated RH/MNCH and HIV services.
  3. Increasing capacities of the Provincial and District Health Offices (P/DHOs) to gradually transition Direct Service Delivery (DSD) of quality integrated health services and sustain services beyond activity implementation.

  

Job summary:

The RH/MNCH provider will be based at the Community Post but expected to move across assigned facilities in the district for implementation of RH/MNCH services. He/she will be responsible to provide direct support to the facility-based staff in developing practical implementation guidance directed to reproductive health, maternal, newborn and child health (RH/MNCH) programme and work closely with fellow RH/MNCH district officers at facility level to address a broader MNCH content for integration of innovative DSD models including how to design and promote their use among health workers, women/caregivers, and adolescents. The officer will be responsible for DSD model implementation, performance, and quality improvement; and oversee its implementation in the assigned facilities.

 

Main Duties:

 

  1. Liaise with facility and departmental In-charges to support the delivery of RH & MNCH related care with integrated DSD modeled services and ensure availability of general medical supplies in the Community Post.
  2. Mentor and ensure quality of care in the designated clinics in all aspects of comprehensive, RH and MNCH care and treatment services including medical care, Antiretroviral therapy (ART) administration, DSD model system implementation, adherence counseling, and ongoing quality assurance and improvement at facility level.
  3. Mentor facility staff on spot testing for RPR, Gravindex, Urinalysis, HIV testing, RDT, DBS/Viral load collection and Hemoglobin test by Heamacue including innovative DSD models for /RH/MNCH service delivery.
  4. Monitor community-based staff in the provision of reproductive health, and Maternal and newborn child health services (including Antenatal Care and Postnatal Care) with integrated DSD models.
  5. Monitor the mother-baby cohort service provision and ensure correct and complete documentation in the appropriate register.

Work closely with facility In-charges and Implementing partners in the Joint Implementation (JIM) program to strengthen the system for bidirectional referring of clients for RH /MNCH and Community based HIV prevention, care and treatment services including ensuring availability of standard tools to track completed referrals.
  2. Assist facilities in logistics management in ensuring availability of essential RH/MNCH commodities in the facility and ART commodities at the Community Post.
  3. Participate in RH, MNCH related activities.
  1. Participate in day-to-day running of the HIV/AIDS clinics at the community post including daily enrollment of all newly identified HIV positive infants, children, adolescents and adults.
  2. Work with CBVs to strengthen targeted HIV testing strategies to grow the Tx- Current at the Community Post.
  3. Works closely with the mother facility, the DHO and PHO to ensure availability of commodities and other general medical supplies at the Community Post.
  1. Provide community-based ART services; Mentor and Work with Community based Staff to identify service or performance gaps and carry out Quality Improvement projects to address them.
  2. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Diploma in Clinical Medical Sciences or HIV Nurse prescriber with experience in clinical services delivery medical 
  2. Additional training in HIV/AIDS clinical management 
  3. Knowledge in HIV/AIDS clinical management, including the current national guidelines for HIV prevention, care and treatment. 
  4. At least 2 years’ experience in managing HIV/AIDS services in clinical settings.
  5. Willingness to work in rural settings.
