Reports to The Strategic Information Manager - Epidemiology. The incumbent plays a crucial role in supporting HIV-related research and program evaluations. S/he will be responsible for conducting statistical analyses on routine and research clinical data, collaborating with various personnel to produce interim and final reports, and providing technical assistance for the design and implementation of research and evaluation projects.

Main Duties:

  • Collaborates with investigators on the design, conduct, data management, statistical analysis, and interpretation of clinical and health services research data.
  • Performs data analysis including descriptive and regression analyses, multivariable modelling, causal inference, and power calculations.
  • Uses relevant statistical software to clean and merge multiple, large databases, and datasets to meet the analysis goals.
  • Provides tabular and graphic summaries that accurately reflect results of the analysis in a form suitable for inclusion in manuscripts for publication or presentation at scientific meetings.
  • Assists in the design, development and maintenance of data collection instruments, databases, and procedure manuals.
  • Acts as a resource for investigators and other research personnel on data analysis.
  • Responsible for self-directed education through conferences, certification, and courses to remain current with industry trends and standards.
  • Manages all aspects of clinical and health services research data.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Master’s Degree in relevant field such as Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computing, Epidemiology or a related field.
  • At least 1 year experience in similar position
  • Extensive knowledge of statistical packages like Stata, and R
  • Ability to synthesize results in graphic, oral, and written reports.
  • Experience with statistical methods commonly used in the analysis of research data including clinical trial data.
  • Ability to work creatively and independently to carry out assignments of a complex nature.
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with other professional staff members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of staff and with the public.
