Reports to Strategic Information Officer. The incumbent will be managing programmatic data, developing data collection tools, and ensuring accurate and timely data reporting and analysis for the USAID CHEKUP I project. S/he will also be involved in training, mentoring, and quality assurance activities related to data management and strategic information processes

Main Duties:

  • Develops and updates the CHEKUP I Data Management and Analysis Plan
  • Extracts routine and ad hoc datasets for programmatic and research studies from DIIMA (CHIV), FIMS (KP), DDIIMA (DREAMS) and other systems like ODK, or RedCap as the need may arise.
  • Aggregates, cleans and manages data for programmatic performance monitoring.
  • Performs basic to intermediate statistical analyses on research datasets as study Principal Investigators may require
  • Extracts and shares Data Queries with project site staff for cleaning and ensure feedback is verified and reported  
  • Ensures data quality reports are prepared, verified and submitted on time.
  • Participates in Routine Data Quality Assessments (RDQAs) and implement quality assurance (QA) and quality improvement (QI) activities.
  • Ensures data quality issues identified during RDQA activities are resolved by site staff on time
  • Supports preparing and submitting weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to USAID, including data imports into the Local, USAID and DATIM DHIS2 instances.
  • Develops training materials and provide training to staff on data collection, data entry procedures, and common errors/problems.
  • Mentors Data Associates and other Data Collectors on efficiently using data and defining performance monitoring indicators.
  • Develops and maintains SOPs for handling programmatic and research data, ensuring they comply with best practices and project requirements.
  • Assists in the development and automation of M&E routine reports for quicker data access by teams.
  • Supports DHIS2 instance users and maintain data collection tools based on DHIS2.
  • Supports the development of indicator monitoring tools and other performance measurement systems.
  • Assists in designing and developing data collection tools and methodologies for program and research projects.
  • Maintains and updates existing data collection tools to ensure they align with project needs and USAID requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Higher/Advanced Diploma in Computing/ICT, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 2 years relevant work experience 
  • Proven experience in database querying and management in RDBMS such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL
  • Experience with DHIS2 front and back-end structures and other data management systems.
  • Experience in a program M&E team, particularly in the health sector, is an added advantage.
  • Medium to advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, STATA, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under high-pressure environments and meet tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with USAID data reporting requirements is desirable.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and data quality management in health projects.
