Reports to the Study Coordinator. The Incumbent will be based exclusively in the field and will be expected to travel and work in the TASKPEN project sites within Lusaka. S/he will be responsible for performing field activities for the TASKPEN project with the highest quality, according to the study protocol and SOPs

Main duties 
  • Acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the project protocol and supporting Standard Operating Procedures and data collection tools.
  • Performs all relevant field activities per the TASKPEN protocol and SOPs, including MOH record review, participant recruitment and screening procedures, informed consent procedures, enrollment and CRF administration, specimen collection procedures and especially file QA/QC.
  • Ensures that the Study Protocol and Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times.
  • Works closely with MoH staff at facility level including community health workers (peers) to ensure that the implementation of project activities does not interrupt routine service delivery and enhances routine services whenever possible.
  • Supports practice facilitation, mentorship, and training of facility staff on the TASKPEN package, including hypertension, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia screening, diagnosis, and management.
  • Mentors, capacity builds, and coaches MOH counterparts and staff to promote delivery of high-quality, integrated HIV/ cardiometabolic health services at supported health facilities.
  • Supports and works with the Pharmacy liaison and MOH counterparts to strengthen NCD logistics and supply chain management at facility level, including commodity requisition and usage documentation.
  • Verifies and ensures that all study forms are completed accurately by study staff as per Project Protocol.
  • Provides timely feedback (positive and negative) to study and facility staff regarding form completion and accuracy.
  • Collaborates with Data Associates, Research Assistants, and other staff to ensure timely completion and transmission of study forms and correction of all forms requiring corrections/additions.
  • Is accountable and responsible for study resources and supplies, such as data collection forms, participant files, study equipment, and facilities ensuring their safe keeping at all times.
  • Supports the study coordinator and project manager with study administration and any issues relevant to ensuring the effective running of field activities.
  • Support the reconciliation of study implementation funds used in the field and timely submission of the field report, receipts, and any other documentation required by the study coordinator for reporting to the funder (NIH).
  • Assists in preparing for study sponsor, monitoring, and/or regulatory visits. 
  • Provides high-quality services to participants by maintaining pleasant relationships at all times and attending to participants in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates the provision of, or referral to, clinical care for study participants when appropriate and required. 
Qualifications
  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Certified in HIV care
  • Training and active certification in Human Subjects Protection and Good Clinical Practice
  • Experience in clinical research or other research activities, ideally relating to HIV and non communicable diseases (NCDs) required
  • Attention to detail required
  • Familiarity with regulatory procedures in Zambia preferred
  • Experience working in a field-based study or program preferred
  • Proficiency in Nyanja and Bemba
